The Department of Ecology, Environmental Control and Audit (until 2004 - the Department of Applied Ecology) was founded in 1996 and is a graduate in the specialty 7.04010601 - Ecology and Environmental Protection.

The purpose of the department: to increase the level of professional knowledge and competence of officials and specialists in the field of environmental protection, environmental and radiation safety, environmental control and audit.

The main tasks of the department:

• advanced training of civil servants - officials and specialists who ensure the functions of the Ministry of Environment, the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine, in particular, the implementation of state policy on state supervision (control) over compliance with legislation in the field of environmental protection, rational use, reproduction and protection of natural resources; observance of the regime of territories and objects of the nature reserve fund; for environmental and radiation safety (including at checkpoints across the state border and in the area of ​​destination and departure customs) during the import, export and transit of goods and vehicles; biological and genetic safety in relation to biological objects of the natural environment in the creation, research and practical use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in an open system; waste management (except radioactive waste management) and hazardous chemicals, pesticides and agrochemicals;
• provision of educational services for obtaining a second higher education in the specialty 7.04010601 - ecology and environmental protection;
• development of educational and methodological support of the above educational activities;
• performance of research works and training of scientific personnel.
