Today's environmental challenges, society's responsibility for preserving the environment for present and future generations, the processes of European integration necessitate the need to ensure ecological balance and soundness of management decisions that affect the environment. Without taking into account the environmental component, it is not possible to solve the economic and social problems facing society at the local, national and global levels. Low level of environmental knowledge leads to violations of environmental legislation and is the cause of inaction of management and inadequate reaction of the population.
Given the above, the main objectives of the web portal are to improve the skills of civil servants and local government officials on topical issues of national environmental policy, its integration into sectoral and regional policies and information and reference to raise awareness of all segments of the population on sustainable development, environmental protection natural environment, rational use of nature, ensuring ecological safety, implementation of ecological control over observance of nature protection legislation (including public control), development of "green economy", sustainable consumption and production and other topical issues of preservation of natural resources and improvement of the environment.
The staff of the State Ecological Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management together with the web portal developers will fill the web portal with new rubrics, information and educational materials, which will be needed to promote professional environmental competence of civil servants and local government officials, environmental awareness of all faiths.
